Financial Empowerment Strategies for Young Women [FESYW]

Apoākea is offering this limited-time FREE online course in financial empowerment strategies for young women ages 14 - 25 years, sponsored by a grant from the Womenʻs Fund of Hawaiʻi.

PROGRAM PURPOSE: To equip young women with the knowledge, tools, and perspective to set them on a financially independent path from the very beginning of their financial journey, in order to ensure a better quality of life, where they can avoid the negative effects of financial dependency.

WHO CAN ENROLL?

The target population of young women who may benefit from this program include:       

  • Young Women of Native Hawaiian ancestry (primarily)

  • Other Young Women of Color

  • At-risk Young Women 

  • Young Women with Different Abilities

  • Young Women with Disabilities

  • LGBTQIA2S+ Individuals

ABOUT THE MENTORS:

The women who designed and built this program are Native Hawaiian mothers, entrepreneurs, scholars, educators, and cultural practitioners. They have experience in personal and business finance while navigating challenges faced by women in underprivledged communities.

This program is 100% online. Participants will meet via Zoom once per week, at a day and time to be determined by each cohort at their first meeting. Participants will access resources via our website and our Google Classroom platform. Using a Google/Gmail account is most efficient for this program.

Cohort 1: May 27, 2022 - June 30, 2022 (accelerated)

Cohort 2: June 1, 2022 - July 31, 2022

Cohort 3: July 1, 2022 - August 31, 2022

By the end of the program, participants will have a working resume and/or CV and potential opportunities for internships or even employment, in addition to the tools, knowledge, and network gained throughout the program. ʻApoākea will provide a Certificate of Completion to each participant who completes the program and the program feedback.
